Irma Blank (b.1934 Celle, Germany) currently lives and works in Milan, Italy, becoming a naturalized Italian citizen in the late 1950s. Blank's practice expands across the mediums of writing, drawing and painting and often focuses on the recording of time as gesture, with reference to writing and the space of the book.
Significant solo exhibitions have included: Schrift und Linie ∕ Scrittura e Disegno, Museion, Bolzano, Italy (2017), Life Line, P420, Bologna, Italy and Breath Paintings, Mostyn, Llandudno (2014). Exhibitions at Alison Jacques Gallery include the solo shows Life Time (2017), Irma Blank: To be (2014) and the group show Matter & Memory (2014).
