Alison Jacques Gallery is delighted to host 39 Years On, an evening of conversation between artist Michelle Stuart and journalist and critic, Sarah Kent.
This event coincides with our forthcoming solo exhibition Michelle Stuart: The Nature of Time (1 June - 28 July 2018), which spans 50 years of Stuart's practice. Since the 1970's, Stuart has been a pioneer of non-traditional, often organic materials, creating works about transformation which collapse memory, time and place. The artist's work addresses the metaphysical while remaining profoundly rooted in its own materiality.
In 1979, Sarah Kent, as Director of Exhibitions at the ICA, London, curated the first solo UK museum show of Michelle Stuart, entitled Paper Works. This will be the first time both artist and curator will meet in public conversation for 39 years. The Nature of Time includes two works from the original ICA, London exhibition: Wind Book (1978) and San Juan Ermita de Chiquimula (1978).
The talk will begin at 6.30pm at The AllBright Private Members Club, 11 Rathbone Place, London, W1T 1HR.
Please note there is limited capacity for this event. If you would like to attend RSVP to confirm your place.
The gallery will be open late until 6.30pm for this occasion.
