Alison Jacques Gallery is pleased to announce that BASE / Progetti per l’Arte presents a solo exhibition by Ian Kiaer, Ping, murmer.
The exhibition presents new work which uses the starting point of the Samuel Beckett text 'Ping' (1966) particularly the blurring of figure and ground in what appears to be a 'White Cube' setting. In the exhibition, sentences from the text take on a strange status as poster / painting / image that serve as comment, proposition or even command. The second part of the exhibition continues Kiaer’s project on the early work of the architect Peter de Bretteville particularly his 'Quick City' initiative of experimental and temporary structures that sought to produce more liberated alternatives to the rigid demands of modernism.
