Alison Jacques Gallery is pleased to announce that Fernanda Gomes will have a solo exhibition at the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo.
Fernanda Gomes's work is characterised by subjecting ordinary materials to manual operations such as tying, hanging, scraping, joining or just positioning and scattering in space. These items are collected from the artist's domestic life and during her travels through streets, galleries and institutions local to the place of exhibition.
The exhibition at the Pinacoteca will be the result of three weeks of assembly work taking place in seven rooms of a complete wing of the museum. Building her work in situ, Gomes's solo show will appropriate the exhibition spaces as an extension of her studio.
