We are delighted to announce that the exhibition Dorothea Tanning: Printmaker will open at Farleys House & Gallery in May 2020.
Tanning became a prolific and accomplished printmaker during her time in France, from the 1950s to the 1970s. During this twenty-year period, the artist produced more than one-hundred prints, collaborating with only the most renowned printers. Many of the works produced by Tanning during this period were intended for the illustrated books of her artist friends, as well as those of her own creation. She continued to work as a printmaker upon her return to America in the late 1970s, however, Tanning's prints have remained relatively unseen in relation to her paintings and drawings. This exhibition will help to introduce an important aspect of Tanning’s multifaceted practice, highlighting over fifty works.
Dorothea Tanning: Printmaker will run from 21 May to 12 July 2020.
