Gallery Coordinator


Alison Jacques Gallery is seeking an enthusiastic and efficient Gallery Coordinator. The successful candidate must be able to work proactively and under instruction, ensuring the maintenance of the gallery while also providing support to the directors.

The Gallery Coordinator will work full time, Tuesday to Saturday, and will be required to provide additional support at exhibition openings and other events. We welcome job applications from people of all backgrounds. Salary: Dependent on experience (includes pension and bonus scheme)

• Knowledge of contemporary art, curatorial practices and networks is essential
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a commercial art gallery or similar
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Excellent administrative and secretarial skills
• Good technical skills including Word, Excel and Photoshop (basic)
• Experience working in a customer-facing environment
• Experience of event management
• Familiarity with databases



• Provide a warm and knowledgeable welcome to all visitors
• Ensure that front of house areas are tidy, presentable and comply with Health and Safety
• Ensure that the kitchen, viewing room and owner’s office are presentable
• Manage the gallery email accounts
• Carry out weekly stock take of kitchen and office supplies
• Support the smooth running of all events (private views, talks, client viewings, VIP events)
• Remain informed about exhibiting artists, gallery roster and exhibition programme
• Oversee the intern scheme, leading on recruitment, training and management in
consultation with directors
• Manage publications stock, front desk displays, library and publication sales
• Create list of works and price lists for exhibitions
• Input external openings and key dates into calendar
• Format and update press releases
• Manage gallery voicemail and booking system
• Book artist travel
• Maintain and update gallery contacts
• Manage cleaner schedule and liaise with building manager
• Manage auctions, informing directors of listings and results
• Manage art fairs deadlines and assist with applications
• Manage important dates, organising gifts where appropriate
• Manage book mailouts, printing labels, purchasing postage and writing compliment slips
